Procuring Enterprise Applications
James McGovern

Nowadays, modern enterprises buy applications more than they build yet there are no documented best practices in terms of procuring enterprise applications. IT executives are seeking to reduce the risk associated with investing in mission-critical enterprise applications and gain control over how vendor offerings are evaluated and selected. No longer is it acceptable to solely listen raptly to vendor sermons and emptying wallets into the collection plate. An enterprise scale approach that is agile, cost effective and repeatable is needed to be successful in the modern enterprise.

This session will discuss practical considerations surrounding evaluating enterprise applications and provide alternative approaches. Some of the topics to be discussed include:

  • Common challenges that enterprises face during evaluations
  • Practical considerations methodology to ensure a comprehensive assessment of vendors and in-house developed alternatives
  • A discussion of criteria that should be used for analyzing a set of vendors and their offerings
  • Where industry analyst guidance falls short
